Brazilian Institute of the Family Law (IBDFAM)
A group of family law scholars created the Brazilian Institute of the Family Law (IBDFAM) during the First Brazilian Congress of the Family Law in Belo Horizonte. In 2007, the Institute completed ten years of action and intervention in the field of Family Law in Brazil. Directives of the Institute include conducting studies and research, promoting discussions with an interdisciplinary focus and fostering the overall wellbeing of the Brazilian family.

Objectives of the Institute include:
  • Promoting character in interdisciplinary studies, surveys, discussions and campaigns on the relationships of family.
  • Spreading knowledge on the Law of Family to all its members and society in general.
  • Acting as representative force in national and international scenarios, and as an instrument of political-science in the attempt to promote a judiciary more appropriate to modern demands.
  • Communicating and cooperating with similar associations in national and international levels.
Knowledge on the Law of Family is accessible in a dynamic, visual interface that simplifies and facilitates virtual navigation. IBDFAM’s web site provides news articles, case laws, a calendar of events, a library, and more. The Institute’s website is in Portuguese.
