Himayat al-Ussra ( Family Protection)
Himayat al-Ussra , Family Protection, is a department within the Public Security Directorate in Jordan. Himayat al-Ussra considers protecting family a national responsibility and is active in investigating cases of abuse taking into consideration the confidentiality and privacy needed to accommodate the psychological and sociological circumstances of the victims and their families. This department coordinates its activities with police departments all over Jordan.
Main tasks are:
  • Operating 24 hours a day, receiving complaints and reports about sexual assaults, whether the assailant was a family relative or a stranger
  • Investigating cases taking into consideration confidentiality and the victims' and their families' privacy .
  • Himayat al-Ussra employs specialized sociologists to monitor the victims' families socially
  • Organizing educational programs about domestic violence in coordination with specialized agencies
  • Conducting studies and scientific research in the field of family security and striving to put an end to domestic violence
  • Analyzing data and statistical fact sheets in coordination with specialized agencies

National Council for Family Affairs - Jordan
The National Council For Family Affairs (NCFA) is a civil society organization presided by her majesty Queen Rania Al-Abdullah. In recognition of the family as the natural and fundamental group unit of society and the best environment to prepare generations for productive lives and responsible citizenship, the Council was founded by a Royal Decree in 2001.

The Council's mission is to ensure a better quality of life for Jordanian families through a national vision that enables the family to attain its optimal aspirations.
NCFA works as :
  • A national think tank committed to the development and reform of relevant laws that proactively support and promote the well-being of the Jordanian family.
  • A coordinating body that facilitates and monitors the implementation of national policies, strategies, and programs that serve its overall objectives.
  • Advocacy body for family issues, mobilizing national support for policies that supports the family’s growth.
The Council operates and implements the National Database for Family Affairs, a rich resource for information on the family including analysis reports, research and studies, national statistics and laws, and international agreements regarding social development.

The Council works in partnership with a number of local, regional, and international organizations.
