Avon Longitudinal Study of Parents and Children (ALSPAC)
The Avon Longitudinal Study of Parents and Children (ALSPAC), also known as 'Children of the 90s,' is aimed at identifying ways in which to optimise the health and development of children. The goal of the study is to understand the ways in which the physical and social environments interact, over time, with the genetic inheritance to affect the child's health, behaviour and development. The European Longitudinal Study of Pregnancy and Childhood (ELSPAC) is a European version of the study with the cooperation of Russia, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, and Ukraine.

The Study's web site lists ALSPAC related bibliographic information on completed theses, books, monographs, both unpublished and published papers which can be found in peer-reviewed journals, some including abstracts. Detailed results of their studies on topics such as the mental health of parents and child temperament can be found via the Scientific Web link. Full length articles are also presented in the form of Press Releases and in their new media monitoring section titled What the Media Says.

Centre for Bioethics and Public Policy (CBPP)
The Centre for Bioethics and Public Policy (CBPP) was established in 1991 as a response to public concern over new bioethics challenges. A group of doctors, ethicists and lawyers were convinced that there was a crucial need to develop a clear ethical framework, based on Judeo-Christian values, for the latest technological developments in medicine, science and technology.

As the pace of technology continues to accelerate, principles are urgently needed for justice in resource allocation decisions and science is well ahead of ethics in plans to "create" life and control the moment of death.

Working together with the international journal Ethics and Medicine the CBPP has:
  • Held a number of prestigious conferences bringing together scholars on both sides of the bioethics debates;
  • Published books and papers on topics in bioethics;
  • Provide electronic and postal versions of newsletters on bioethics issues;
  • Developed partnerships and links with like-minded bodies;
  • Networked academics, policy makers, scholars and political leaders.

Centre for Policy Studies (CPS)
The Centre for Policy Studies (CPS) is one of Britain's best known and most respected think tanks. It exists to promote coherent and practical public policy, to roll back the state, reform public services, support communities, and challenge threats to Britain's independence.

The CPS was founded by Sir Keith Joseph and Margaret Thatcher in 1974 to champion economic liberalism in Britain and has since played a global role in the dissemination of free market economics. Its policy proposals are based on a set of core principles, including individual choice and responsibility, and the concepts of duty, family, liberty, and the rule of law.

Available at this website are downloadable samples of whole lectures, articles, and publications which are for sale in their entirety. Of particular note is the archived Historic Catalogue where "Social and Family Policy" is one of many criteria with which to query bibliographic materials.
